Building a Local Esports Brand And Hype

We supported the Washington Justice, the DC area’s first major franchise esports team, in hosting the first hometown events of its kind in DC while driving local media coverage

The opportunity

The Washington Justice was planning its first live events in its hometown, the DC area, as part of the Overwatch League’s newly established home-and-away format for the 2020 season. For the initial events, the Justice secured The Anthem - a new, marquee entertainment venue in the thriving Wharf district in downtown DC. The communications challenge was to excite and educate both Overwatch League fans and non-esports fans alike in the DC area about the unique entertainment offerings of the Justice’s homestands, and to pack the venue each weekend.

Press room operations during all nearly sold-out weekends were smooth - and media loved it. We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback, both in person as in shout-outs on social media.
